 Governor Wolf Announces Update to Vaccine Timeline

Governor Wolf and Acting Secretary Beam will announce this afternoon that effective tomorrow, Tuesday, April 13, all Pennsylvania adults will be eligible to schedule an appointment for the COVID-19 vaccine. The Department of Health has seen ongoing appointment availability in many parts of the state even as Phase 1A and 1B continue and 1C begins today. This updated timeline will signal the start of Phase 2, and allow all interested adults to fill appointments at providers immediately as of April 13.

Our ongoing initiative with the Area Agencies on Aging to schedule vulnerable seniors for appointments by phone will continue, as will our other equity initiatives.

To date, Pennsylvania providers have administered more than 6 million vaccines and the state is ranked 11th in the nation for first-dose vaccinations. More than 2 million Pennsylvanians are fully vaccinated.

我的妻子张纯如：记忆与写作之痛 文 / 布雷特·道格拉斯 来源《南京大屠杀》 1988 年 10 月，我第一次见到我的妻子张纯如，那时她是一个美丽可人、才华横溢的女孩，浑身充满朝气。如果当时有人告诉我，她将来会写出一部被翻译成 15 种语言的畅销书，我丝毫不会感到惊讶。但我万万没想到的是，在她去世 7 年后的今天，我竟然在为她的著作《南京大屠杀》写一篇尾声。我曾经以为，以纯如在 30 岁时表现出来的活力、激情和干劲，她即使到了 80 岁甚至 90 岁，也能写出伟大的作品。 虽然在遇到对方之前，我们都没有太多的约会经历，但相识不久我们就发现我们是完美的一对。我们幸运地在一起度过了 16 年的幸福时光。在我写作这篇尾声之前，有两本关于纯如生平的书已经出版：保拉•卡门 (Paula Kamen) 的《发现张纯如》 (Finding Iris Chang) ，以及纯如母亲张盈盈的《张纯如：无法忘却历史的女子》 (The Woman Who Could Not Forget) 。这两本书写得都很好，我建议想进一步了解纯如的人不妨一读。纯如的离世太过突然，加之她是一个不事张扬的人，因而她生活的许多方面和她的死因都被蒙上了一层神秘色彩。感谢基本书局 (Basic Books) 给我这个填补空白的机会，澄清纯如生命中的诸多谜团，从而让她的精神和作品永留于世。 　　 张盈盈的《张纯如：无法忘却历史的女子》一书详细描述了纯如一生的点点滴滴，我无意对此做进一步的补充完善。相反，我将集中介绍几个我认为促进纯如成功的关键因素。纯如的父母都曾在哈佛大学获得博士学位并以科学研究为业，因此纯如从小就重视智力成果的价值。青少年时期，她在伊利诺伊大学图书馆和其他地方图书馆中花费数千小时，锻炼阅读和快速处理信息的能力。纯如编辑了一份详尽的诺贝尔奖和普利策奖获奖作品清单，以及奥斯卡获奖电影名单，并着手阅读其中每一部作品，观看每一部影片。她连休息日都在系统研究这些著作和电影。 　　 纯如中学阶段就读于伊利诺伊大学附属中学 (University of Illinois ’ s University High School ，简称伊大附中 ) ，学校很小，但学习压力很大，学生主要由通过了严格入学考试的教授子女组成，大家学习都很刻苦。该校出了好几位诺贝尔奖得主，以及其他许多获...
